I hit the 5 Kilometer mark this morning! My time is still slower then I would like (just under 14 minute miles), but it was still a milestone. It took just under 42 minutes to run this. My goal now is to get to running 50 minutes, then to work on improving my times within that. Ten minute miles are going to be necessary, I think, to get me to my goal. I am in the beginning of getting a team together for our marathon, and I need to be in at least decent shape in order to lead them.
On a brighter note, I took a group of kids to Schlitterbahn yesterday, and as I walked around the park, realized that I look better then most men my age! I was not afraid to take off my shirt to get in the water. All I need now is to get rid of this darned Farmer's Tan!
Cliff bars are God's gift to runners. I eat a cliff bar and drink 1.5 pints of water 30 minutes before running. It makes a world of difference. Then a smoothie an our after the run. My ninja smoothie recipe is as follows:
In a blender, blend one medium banana, 1 cup of juice (we use a mix of acaii berry, pomegranate, and cranberry), 2 tsp peanut butter, 3/4 cut frozen fruit and 6 to 8 ice cubes until well blended. Add 4 oz. non-fat vanilla yogurt and blend until smooth. Makes 2 servings, about 281 calories.
Way to go, baby. Proud of you. Keep up the good work. Love you.
ReplyDeleteSweet! (The milestone and the smoothie.) Way to go, Michael! Keep putting one running shoe in front of the other, and you'll get to your goal.
